Primary Care Crisis?

Via Health Care Renewal, Dr. Pam thinks there is a crisis in primary care. Perhaps she's right. But why, if doctors are truly concerned about the state of primary care on behalf of healthcare consumers, don't they embrace retail health care which is trying to fundamentally overhaul America's primary care experience, from clinic locations and personnel (i.e., nurse practitioners vs. PCPs) to price and wait time?

We've covered physician hostility to retail health clinics before. And it bears bringing up again, especially if physicians like Pam are truly this morose about the decline of such an important aspect of medicine; for one would think they would welcome new minds, new money, and new energy into the field.
