I would have agreed with you just a few short years ago when I had an old-fashioned gold-plated employer-provided plan. Now that I have to participate in a small-group employer plan (and thank God for it -- no one qualifies for individual plans anymore), I no longer have real insurance. I pay $800/month to participate in Aetna's contracted discounted medical rates. Suspiciously, once I meet my annual deductible, my coverage has hit it's limits...
