Good News from Louisiana

Categories:  Louisiana

There is good news from Louisiana for a change, where Rep. Bobby Jindal has been elected governor. This is a man who knows health policy (PDF) from the inside out, having first risen to national prominence as Medicaid director for the state.

Gov.-Elect Jindal has huge problems to tackle with replacing medical infrastructure destroyed by Katrina, and high poverty, obesity, infant mortality, and uninsured rates. But he has a detailed health plan worthy of any political candidate who values private insurance, individual choice, and competitive markets. He is destined to become a national leader in state-based health reform initiatives.
