Dubious Morality

Categories:  Kentucky, SCHIP

In Kentucky, Gov. Steve Beshear said that commonwealth has a "moral obligation" for taxpayers to pay for the health insurance of children, and touted an expansion of SCHIP in front of an elementary school audience.

Should government "do something" about the fact that some people have no insurance? Only to the extent that it should act to reduce official impediments to low-cost insurance. Adding more people to a government-run health system isn't quite the best response.
